Dermatology was established in 1999 with the establishment of the hospital and has now developed into a modern discipline that integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and training. It is a key clinical specialty in Guangdong Province, a key medical discipline in Shenzhen, a leading discipline in Shenzhen, and a brand discipline in Shenzhen. In 2018, it won the first place in the single discipline of hospital technology influence (dermatology) in Shenzhen during the 12th Five Year Plan period. For several consecutive years, it has been included in the reputation ranking of Fudan China Hospital and specialty dermatology in the South China region.
The dermatology department currently has a total of 48 employees (29 doctors), including 18 senior professional titles, 15 doctoral degrees, 9 master's degrees, 1 doctoral supervisor, and 5 master's supervisors. There is one local leading talent in Shenzhen, one outstanding young medical talent in Guangdong Province, three reserve talents in Shenzhen, and two high-level overseas talents in the discipline. In recent years, several key disciplines have been selected to conduct dermatology training at renowned institutions both domestically and internationally.
The dermatology clinic covers an area of 1300 square meters, including a dermatology diagnosis and treatment area, a skin laser beauty area, and a dermatology surgery diagnosis and treatment area. It has 10 beds and a laboratory area of 200 square meters. Equipped with advanced pigment laser, vascular laser, intense pulsed light, single-stage RF, lattice RF, semiconductor laser, fungal fluorescence detection system, dermatoscope, skin sunlight response simulator, multi person viewing and fluorescence microscope, and more than 30 advanced diagnostic and treatment equipment at home and abroad. The Skin Disease Research Institute is equipped with dozens of high-precision scientific research equipment, including a low-temperature refrigerator, real-time quantitative PCR instrument, frozen section machine, ultracentrifuge, multi-color flow cytometer, laser micro cutting system, and automated section scanning system.
The department has six sub specialties: Immunological Skin Diseases, Skin Pathology and Difficult and Severe Skin Diseases, Infectious Skin Diseases, Skin Surgery and Skin Tumors, Skin Beauty, and Skin Genetics. We offer eight specialized disease clinics, including dermatology, atopic dermatitis and eczema, urticaria, chronic prurigo, skin hemangioma and vascular malformation (fresh red spot nevus), acne and rosacea, psoriasis, and hereditary skin diseases.
Immune skin diseases: Specialized diagnosis and treatment are carried out for patients with severe atopic dermatitis/eczema, urticaria, bullous disease, psoriasis, vitiligo, etc., including allergen screening, patch testing, biologic therapy, narrow-band ultraviolet phototherapy, and excimer phototherapy.
Dermatology: With an annual surgical volume exceeding 6000, the scope of surgeries covers benign/malignant skin tumors such as keloids, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma.
Laser beauty treatment: With an annual diagnosis and treatment volume of over 20000 people, it uses skin laser, radiofrequency, skin fillers, botulinum toxin, skin nutrition agents, etc. to treat pigmentation, acne and rosacea, as well as anti-aging and shaping treatments for the skin.
Photodynamic therapy: With an annual treatment volume of over 1000 people, it treats benign/malignant skin tumors, genital warts, and red wine stains, and has advantages such as low recurrence rate and good cosmetic effects.
In the future, the department will use the Dermatology Department of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital as its clinical base, with the "Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Translational Medicine for Skin Diseases", "Shenzhen Public Service Platform for Molecular Detection of Skin Diseases", and "Peking University Shenzhen Hospital Institute of Dermatology" as research platforms. Around six core sub specialties, a series of cutting-edge technologies will be developed to cultivate high-level disciplinary talents and create a leading and radiating brand discipline in Shenzhen.
